Okay, so not quite Cinco de Mayo the holiday, but more so because it’s May and this is episode number five of everybody’s favorite amateur radio show. Keep in mind that I have listed the name of every artist and song title after the cut. This means that if you hear something you like during the show and the titles aren’t mentioned, you don’t have to worry about tracking the names down. It’s all right here on the site.
As always, this newest episode is my favorite so far and I hope you agree and like it just as much.
I was feeling a teensy bit bored before the Marlins game and decided to make this for all of my adoring fans – that can be counted on one hand. Probably on just a couple of fingers, really. Either way, it’s me! Yay!
I was thinking of going in a really extreme direction with this episode, but I have decided to put that off for a little bit. What I had been thinking about doing was a playlist that would look like this: country, rap, electronic, folk, disco, et cetera.
I think that’s a little too alienating for now, because I would have gone into it knowing that people would have hated at least some of the songs. This is because it seems to me that country and hip hop are the two most divisive genres in all of music. You constantly hear people saying, “I like everything except rap/country.”
So for now, here is more of what you love in episode number four of my little mix show. It’s split into two files (part 1 of 2 and part 2 of 2) and two streams because of the length. This episode clocks in at just over an hour and fifty minutes.
Okay, so after a long break, here’s Episode 003 and it’s way better than the first two, at least music-wise. Technically, I also think it’s the best sounding episode so far from a technical standpoint. Oh yeah, and the songs are great, too. It clocks in at just under an hour and forty minutes, so make sure you have the time to listen. And, as always, please leave me your comments. That’s the only way the show will get better and reflect what you want to hear!
I have been working on the new episode and it will be up soon. I know people are starting to lose interest and a bunch don’t care anymore. Don’t lose faith though, the next show is going to be the best of the three so far. Being sick has made me realize that maybe a show every week is a little overly ambitious for now. I will try to get a new show out every couple (two to three) of weeks. As a result of this, I’m going to make the shows much longer and a lot more work will go into each one.
Okay, so it’s already Sunday and there’s no new episode of the Super Indie Show. “What gives?” you may be asking. Well, I have been really sick for the better part of a month now and, recently, some of the nastier symptoms have relapsed.
So while I’ve been lounging around my house, feeling like crap and loading myself up on antibiotics and painkillers, I’ve been watching reruns of “John Adams” on HBO and simultaneously getting some new music for the show. Long story short, the new episode is coming and it will be up within the next few days.
I’m going to make it a two-hour deal to make up for the lack of a new show this past week. It will still be episode three, but it will just be the longest episode by far. It’s kind of convenient that this would happen, because I honestly had way too many songs I wanted to play in the new episode to fit them all into a one-hour show.
Howdy, everyone. This is the second video post; just an update on what’s to come this week. Just as a side note, if you have not noticed, there are links on this page over to the right that will take you to my MySpace page and my Last.fm profile. What’s cool about Last.fm is you can see what I’m listening to at any time. So if you like what I play on the show, you’ll love looking through that stuff!
So after a long, painful wait…here is Episode 002 of Mike’s Super Indie Show. I think the overall quality of this show is way better than the first episode. It’s a little late right now and I’ve been pretty busy today and did experience a few hiccups in putting the show together this week. The program I was using to record the tracks on my PC decided to crash and then later on, the microphone stopped working, so we had to do some stuff a couple of times.
I say ‘we’ and not ‘I’ because this week I had help in putting the show together from my friend Kat. I did pick most of the songs again this week, but she definitely had some input. We switched around the order of some of the songs and the show just has a really good flow to it overall, I think. It took her a little time to get used to having a microphone stuck in her face, but I think by the end we definitely got into a good groove.
Later on in the week I will be updating the blog with show notes, including song names and artists as well as album titles and artwork for all the tracks played this week. Episode three will be sometime next week, but I definitely want to try to trim the runtime down a bit and keep things nice and tight.
As always, please leave me your comments, questions and suggestions right here in the comments section. Here’s the on-site stream of this week’s episode:
I’m looking for someone to design the header for my site. I don’t have any specific requests and just want everyone to be as creative as possible. I want something really cool and the artist will, of course, receive full credit for their work. Plus, your design will be seen at the top of the home page by everyone that visits.
Designs can be e-mailed to me at superindiemike@gmail.com.
Click on the unflattering picture to see a short little video of me explaining (read: blabbering aimlessly about) what I’m looking to do with this site.
